Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil are two of the early candidates in the frame to succeed the former manager as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The previous coach was dismissed on the weekend after the team's ten-game winless beginning to the top-flight campaign.
And Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have historic associations to the team - are among the names to be evaluated by the Wolves ownership.
Edwards is presently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a potential obstacle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.
However the ex- Luton head coach - who played more than 100 of games for Wolves during his time as a player - is said to be a strong contender for the position.
