Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night stating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in contact with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and said they would have โ€œno further comment at this timeโ€.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team selected in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
